We recently completed an extensive home renovation that included our kitchen, two bedrooms, a full bathroom, office and the entire main floor living area. Darlington Renovation performed the work professionally, on time, on budget and with a keen eye for detail. Darlington Renovation provided good insight and advice to make decisions when it was necessary to deviate from the initial plans. Issues will arise on any project and when one arose – for instance, the wrong bathroom tile was delivered – Darlington Renovation remedied quickly and efficiently.
Additionally, Darlington Renovation was sensitive to preserving the character of our 112-year-old home while updating to today's standards. They self-performed much of the work, however, their subcontractors for electrical, plumbing and HVAC were equally professional, courteous and competent.

In February 2017, Darlington Renovation began remodeling the basement in our 100-year-old bungalow in North Denver. Our family had years ago outgrown the original two-bedroom, one-bathroom configuration and needed more space. The remodel was a bit complicated because we excavated down a few feet to give us an eight-foot finished ceiling height. We also added a new steel center beam to give us some design flexibility for the finished layout.
From the beginning of the decision to do the remodel work in mid-2016, the complexity seemed a bit daunting to us. Permits, engineering reports, hiring subcontractors, foundation underpinning and the finishing work all seemed a bit out of reach until we talked to Darlington. They had experience with all aspects of the work, including the foundation underpinning related to the excavation. That turned out to be key to the project. Darlington handled the whole remodel with complete professionalism from the new layout design, permitting and inspections, hiring and managing subcontractors and completion of all the finish construction.
During the five months it took to complete the project, Darlington was great to work with. Except for just a handful of days where we were waiting for an inspection, a Darlington crew or the subcontractors were working on the basement. When we talked to friends and coworkers about their own remodeling projects, that stood out as exceptional to us. We heard plenty of stories about other contractors and other jobs where worked stalled for days or weeks at a time. Tim was on-site everyday and quick to return phone calls, texts and e-mails about any issues that came up. The whole Darlington crew was engaged in the project and had great ideas for enhancements and details that were valuable contributions to the plan.
A project this size certainly can have issues and an occasional miscommunication about some detail like bathroom sconces or door moldings. Darlington was quick to change or fix any detail to finish it the way we wanted and was creative, flexible and reasonable with the change work we added late. Like the addition of a great electric fireplace, moving the electrical service and changing out the shower pan tile that just wasn’t working out.
About five months after starting the project we were finished on schedule and moving into the new space that is now a remarkable family room, a master suite with a huge walk-in closet and a laundry room that doubles as a wet-bar or kitchenette. We are very happy that we contracted Darlington Renovation for the job and love the extra space in the house.
